Moss
Media Services
In
addition to the sale of most types of broadcast equipment
and accessories, Moss Media offers the following services
for radio broadcasters:
Consultancy
- from radio station design to build and equip, and operational
maintenance...
We offer a consultancy service on all aspects of commercial
radio broadcasting, big or small. This service is available
in modular form or as a complete 'one stop shop' package,
guiding prospective licence applicants through the process
towards an application. Modules cover specific aspects
- e.g. station technical design, engineering, project
management, programming, traffic, training, production,
audience research, audience profiling, selection of premises,
soundproofing, selection of transmitter sites and coverage
area predictions (including DAB), RSL and community radio
set-up, operation and maintenance, etc etc. Clients are
welcome to mix and match the various modules when wishing
to develop, alter, revamp, or move to new premises.
Broadcast
technical and production services - big or small outside
broadcasts, and live studio production...
We are able to provide necessary equipment and appropriate
personnel for the recording, mixing and editing of programme
features and segments, or the production of complete live
or recorded programmes and outside broadcasts. We have
specialist expertise in the arena of rock, country and
classical music concerts, as well as major outside broadcasts
as diverse as Election declarations, Carol services, Royal
Visits... and in the production and presentation of studio
based discussion programmes such as Budget Day and Election
Night specials. Give us a call to discuss your next project...
Transmission
facilities - from start to finish...
Often regarded as a black art, the provision of highly
dependable, properly maintained, yet cost effective transmission
facilities meeting all licensing requirements is absolutely
vital for the success of any radio station. We'll be happy
to discuss the facilities required to set up your station,
and whether you're thinking of a big station or a small
one, AM, FM or DAB, in conjunction with associate companies,
we can provide all the equipment and services a new or
existing radio operator will need. This includes everything
from first assessments of a service area, through computer
predictions of the likely coverage of an area from any
given transmitter site (or sites) on to equipment sourcing
and provision, negotiation for use of sites and masts,
and contracts for service, repair and maintenance on operational
sites. One call to Moss Media is all it takes...
Help to keep your
traffic moving
The correct scheduling of advertisements through a close
and reliable working relationship between a station’s
sales staff, its commercial production department or supplier
and its programme output is absolutely vital. Its a complex
area, at the very heart of commercial radio operation,
and consistent, stable, fuss free day to day scheduling
of advertisements is the overall key to bringing in every
station’s revenue. Without a consistent approach
here, things can go downhill very quickly.
Our consultant traffic manager has
many years experience in this area and will be happy to
advise on everything from the setting up of a completely
new traffic system, right through to suggesting refinements
for existing arrangements or improving overall system
integration. He can also offer guidance on training, the
selection of suitable staff - and help find the right
sort of holiday or longer term cover if you’re short
on staff. Call us - we can help sort out all your station’s
traffic and scheduling problems.
Broadcast
equipment maintenance.
Moss Media can offer skilled yet
cost effective technical backup for broadcast equipment
maintenance and repair, covering everything from a faulty
clock or an intermittent cable, right through to complete
facility refurbishment.
We can offer long or short term, minor
or major maintenance plans for all sizes of station, covering
all aspects of routine and emergency maintenance, repairs
and service restoration, from microphone right through
to transmitter. We can also arrange service, calibration
or repair of most models and types of broadcast equipment
- though the older it is, the more difficult (and more
expensive) this work tends to become. We have an associate
company who can deal with your transmitter maintenance
requirements, from RSL’s and community radio right
up to and including high power sites and DAB, and we even
know a man who can fix your portable Uher and Revox reel
to reel machines, subject obviously to parts availability...
With the growing numbers of Beyer headphones
and headsets from the DT100, DT 150 and DT 250 series
now in circulation we are frequently asked about repairs
to these well known, trusted, industry-standard units.
Replacement leads and other fast moving parts are available
and Moss Media also offers a speedy turnaround on general
repairs and refurbishment of these units, with work swiftly
carried out in our workshop by experienced engineers.
We normally carry good stocks of all the commonly required
spare parts for these ranges, and can supply parts and
usually organise repairs and have your headphones or headset
back on its way to you, good as new, in less than 24 hours.
Whatever the broadcast maintenance
issue you’re facing, we’ll be happy to chat
about the possibilities and offer advice on your specific
problems - please call or e-mail.

an RSL or Community Radio environment. We can also supply
new Sony machines suitably modified for such uses. Connection

are not connected.
How
often does a presenter on your OB's want to talk to the
crowd when the music's pumping and control of his microphone
and the music level is in your van - where you can't see
the stage? We offer the perfect solution - a PA dim box,
operated by foot pedal. Plug in the box, set the presenters
mic and music at the appropriate levels, preset the required
lower music level for talk over, give the presenter the
foot pedal and he can dip the music when he wants to talk,
and restore it when he's finished - with the mic then
muted for safety! All on XLR connections so its easy to
integrate, using standard mic cables throughout. Many
other applications possible. Call for more details.
Special
pre-recorded programmes.
From time to time we have available pre-recorded 'special'
radio programmes, which are made available on an exclusive
area basis. These find ready application as one-off programmes,
equally useful for general programming or Christmas or
Bank Holiday specials. Please call for details of current
availability.
Motoring
features series.
We offer a long running and well established open-ended
series of weekly motoring-related features of 3 to 4 minutes
duration, professionally prepared, and again made available
for unrestricted use on an exclusive area basis. These
are ideal for generating station sponsorship and sales
revenue, and are provided monthly at very low cost on
non-returnable CD, each of which contains sufficient material
to run at least one feature per week. Various one-off
feature length 'specials' are provided at no extra charge
as a part of this package, which also includes British
Motor Show coverage when appropriate. Participating stations
receive a minimum of 60 cuts per year at the average rate
of 5 cuts per month. Please telephone or e-mail for details
of currently available broadcast areas, a descriptive
leaflet, and details of costs.
