Moss Media offers Beyer DT100 series headphone repairs and spares by post

The robust mechanical quality and good audio performance of Beyerdynamic DT100, DT150 and DT190 series of studio headphones and headsets has seen them widely adopted for presenter, producer, operator and news and sport applications in radio stations of all sizes. However the very demanding environment in which they operate means that even Beyer headphones and headsets need maintenance attention eventually.

Here, probably the most important advantage of the DT100 line in service is that its components are readily available as spare parts. For many years Moss Media has held stocks of commonly required spares, to provide a rapid repair service to broadcast clients. Some years ago, with demand growing, a "headphone repairs by post" service was introduced, allowing broadcasters from anywhere in the UK to send headsets for repairs - with return (subject to credit clearance and delays outside our control) usually within 48 hours. All such workshop repairs are carried out by experienced engineers for a fixed price (see below.)

If you are able to undertake local Beyer repairs or have a technician available, DT100 series parts may be ordered from Moss Media for despatch by post, again usually within 48 hours. Naturally this is subject to parts being available: items are occasionally out of stock, and parts not frequently required may have to be ordered from UK distributor stock or the manufacturer in Germany, in which case lead times may be some weeks.

Beyer DT250 Series spares and repairs
Though perhaps not quite as robust as the DT100 series, DT250 series headphones and headsets have also gained wide recognition as another broadcasting workhorse, particularly in on-air studios. Many presenters prefer their "sound" to that of the DT100. Major component parts such as connecting leads, ear and head cushions are readily available as spares, and can be supplied by post. To restore existing headphones/headset to clean, comfortable, normal working condition: Workshop cost: £25.00 plus VAT per unit - PLUS the cost of all parts required to complete the work and return carriage. We suggest Royal Mail Special delivery, which provides insurance to the full value while in transit at no extra cost.

An e-mail will be provided for charging approval indicating total anticipated cost for each headset returned - before rectification work is undertaken. There is a standard inspection charge of £10.00 plus return carriage and VAT where repair work is declined after a quotation has been provided. Clients will be advised if repair costs are likely to exceed the cost of a new unit of the same or similar type, and our prevailing list price of a new (or equivalent) unit provided for comparison purposes. Unless a client holds credit account facilities, payment in full is requested before repaired or new units are despatched.

All charges for replacement parts/sundries used to complete the repair work will be added to the "Repair by post" workshop cost shown above. Some typical pricing examples are shown below, but the full manufacturer range of parts is available. Items shown and all other headphone spares listed as available by Beyer can be purchased separately as spare parts.

When returning units for our Repair by Post service, please ensure the correct carriage is pre- paid, and you include details of your radio station/studio name, department and a named contact, as well as a telephone number and e-mail address. Unmarked packages will be held for a maximum of 30 days awaiting owner contact. Payment is required not more than 30 days after invoice date. In both cases, after 30 days Moss Media reserves the right to dispose of any unmarked, unclaimed or unpaid items.
